Primary Research Area

I am a public economist with a focus on health behavior. Most of my research is on the intersection of substance use disorders, economics, and crime, and I am particularly interested in interventions and programs designed to improve the health of vulnerable and low-income populations. The goal of almost all my research is to provide information to help policy makers make the best possible decisions about which programs to fund and which laws and policies to enact. I have worked with researchers from many other disciplines and have evaluated programs in a number of different contexts including incarceration systems, interventions for risky sexual behavior, telemedicine programs and care management for high-cost medically complex patients.
