Primary Research Area
Mason L. Hatwan, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and addiction researcher whose work integrates clinical practice with innovative methods to better understand and address the impairing consequences of behavioral and substance use disorders. His research spans internet gaming disorder, alcohol use disorder, paraphilic disorders, and more broadly, the mechanisms of behavior change. He is particularly interested in applying geospatial ecological momentary assessment (GEMA) with passive-sensor data to capture real-time behavioral, emotional, and environmental information, revealing context-rich patterns that advance both understanding and intervention development for these conditions.
