Bio
Kristi is a clinical psychology doctoral student and addiction researcher whose work examines the development, co-occurrence, and treatment of behavioral and substance-related addictions. Her research focuses on gambling, compulsive sexual behavior and problematic pornography use, alcohol and other substance use, and the ways these concerns intersect with trauma, coping, stigma, and treatment-seeking. She is particularly interested in identifying the motivations and mechanisms that contribute to addictive behaviors, understanding how these patterns change over time, and examining what prompts individuals to recognize problems and pursue care. She also hopes to extend this work to military service members, veterans, and other trauma-exposed populations, with particular attention to the co-occurrence of alcohol use, behavioral addictions, trauma-related symptoms, and barriers to treatment. Ultimately, her work aims to inform more accessible, evidence-based, and stigma-reducing approaches to assessment, prevention, and intervention.
