As a service to University colleagues, UNM's Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, and Addictions (CASAA) offers a free weekly 1-hour seminar for those who want to strengthen their grantwriting skills.  The seminar is offered three times per year, corresponding to the NIH grant review cycles.  Although the seminar is oriented toward NIH grants and the PHS-398 format, there is high generalizability to other granting agencies.  Priority is given to faculty and to those preparing a proposal.  Faculty interested in submitting grant proposals through CASAA may also access pre-award support services for the preparation and submission of their applications.  Presentations will be available for download after each session.

The next seminar begins January 22, 2009 and runs through April 2, 2009.  Participation is by registration only, and enrollment is limited to 25 (registration open through January 6).  Participants are asked to commit to attending all sessions unless out of town.  If you missed the registration period but are interested in attending a specific class, please contact Rossela Martinez at 925-2358.

The Grantwriting 501 seminar is taught by a team of highly experienced CASAA grantwriters, investigators, and administrators.  Participating instructors are:

Michael Bogenschutz, Ph.D.,
Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Vice-Chair for Addiction Psychiatry
Marita Brooks, Senior Program Manager, CASAA
Roberta Chavez, Manager, Program Evaluation Services, CASAA

Barbara McCrady, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology, Director of CASAA
