Current projects and collaborations:
COSAP is implementing a comprehensive approach that incorporates universal, selected and indicated prevention strategies. The universal component addresses all UNM students with a campus-wide social marketing campaign entitled Lobo Profiles; student residents will be the beneficiaries of a social norms campaign developed by COSAP and Residence Life as a selected prevention component.

Led by COSAP, the Campus Prevention Council (CPC) comprised of students, staff, and faculty, recently developed a strategic plan with three major objectives:
  • Improve early identification of students in need of assistance by providing early intervention training to staff and faculty who have frequent 1-to-1 contact with students.
  • Add the electronic Check Up to Go (e-CHUG) - a personalized, evidence-based, online prevention intervention to the multifaceted New Student Orientation program to reduce alcohol-related harms among first-year students.
  • Reduce impaired driving among UNM students through the provision of a pre-paid, Safe Ride alternative.

COSAP is also collaborating with UNM Student Health And Counseling (SHAC) practitioners to increase the number of students who use tobacco cessation services and successfully quit by providing cessation resources as well as training and evaluation to support the integration of motivational interviewing into the SHAC intake process.
