Current projects and collaborations:
In alcohol and substance abuse prevention, I am involved in two projects currently: 1) The San Juan County DWI Treatment Center Evaluation project, funded by NIAAA, to comprehensively evaluate a DWI incarceration and treatment center over five years, and 2) Responsible Beverage Service approach to Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Prevention, a project that employs RBS practices that focus on serving alcohol to women of child-bearing age as a way to reduce FAS. In cancer prevention, I am involved in three projects currently: 1) an Internet website intervention to reduce tobacco uptake among adolescents, 2) an Internet website intervention to impact dietary behaviors among Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado residents, and 3) an evaluation of a sun safety and skin cancer prevention curriculum for adolescents.
